I used Wilton's Vintage Piano cake pans (from 1973).

Directions

  1. I actually mixed everything together in one big bowl and used my handmixer, but you can use a stand mixer. Poured into a greases pans. Bake for 35 minutes. But check temp. on Duncan Hines package. I have also done this with Cherry cake mix as well. I used a buttercream icing. You can use from scratch, or ready made icing.

Can be made without the piano specialty pan. Using a square pan and a loaf pan or a rectangle pan and cutting the cake to shape. 1. Trim a 8x8 square cake to shape and then trim loaf pan size cake to shape OR 2. Trim and cut rectangle cake to shape and the two different heights (body of piano and keyboard of piano) TIP: method 2 eliminates the issue of the cake being in 2 separate pieces (body and keyboard) for detailed instructions if interested leave a comment and email address and I'll email you schematic.
